A Wider World - Elder Abuse

  1. Hello and thanks for the report.

This is a big problem in Sweden also. There have been many reports of this and a major scandel in the news centered around a Risk Capital Health Care Company. As, in the States, most cases go unreported and if they do, the Swedes have a system in which the State monitors themselves ( The fox watches the chicken coup) so nothing ever happens and if it does, it's the lower on the totem pole who is punished or in reality, mainly the whistle blowers who are doing their jobs in a proper and proffesional manner.

My wife works in the Elder care area and has seen first hand these abuses and tried to make a difference, but again the systems is a rigged system and nothing happens. To speak up for the best of the Elders is career suicide.

One retired man I know who as a lawyer forrmed his own association within the nursing home. The nursing home director wont even talk to him, but he deals directly with the politicians and other township agencies and has made a difference. Unfortunatelely, he is 98 and will not be around too much longer and when he is gone, it will go back to the normal way of doing business.

    Anyhow, thanks for the video.

    Kind regards,
    Mike
